The starry film adaptation of the Tony-nominated Broadway musical The Prom is arriving on Netflix on December 11, and the trailer is here! As previously reported, the movie stars Meryl Streep as Dee Dee Allen, James Corden as Barry Glickman, Andrew Rannells as Trent Oliver, Nicole Kidman as Angie, Ariana DeBose as Alyssa Greene, Kevin Chamberlin as Sheldon Saperstein, Kerry Washington as Ms. Greene and Keegan-Michael Key as Mr. Hawkins. Newcomer Jo Ellen Pellman plays the central role of Emma. Directed by Ryan Murphy, with a screenplay by Broadway's Bob Martin and Chad Beguelin and music by Matthew Sklar and Beguelin, this movie musical is sure to give your life some zazz! Odds & Ends: Director Stephen Daldry Exits Wicked Film & More

The Wicked Film Loses Its Director
Stephen Daldry, who received a 2020 Tony Award nomination for directing The Inheritance, will no longer be at the helm of the Wicked movie. He has departed the project due to scheduling conflicts, according to Variety. The movie was taken off of Universal’s release schedule amid the coronavirus pandemic. As previously reported, Stephen Schwartz revealed the movie will contain at least three new numbers. The composer also plans to incorporate at least one song cut from the Broadway show into the film adaptation. Librettist Winnie Holzman will return to adapt her script for the screen. No word yet on casting.

Succession Emmy Winner Jeremy Strong in Talks for Maestro
These Broadway alums are teaming up! Jeremy Strong, who took home a 2020 Emmy Award for his performance on the HBO smash hit Succession, is negotiating to co-star in Netflix's Maestro, the Bradley Cooper-directed drama on composer Leonard Bernstein, according to Deadline. Strong would play biographer John Gruen, a critic for The New York Herald Tribune and New York magazine who penned the authorized biography The Private World …

The Public Theater premiered its online virtual benefit, Forward.Together on October 20. The event, directed by Tony winner Kenny Leon, featured performances and appearances by dozens of Broadway favorites including Laura Benanti, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Nikki M. James, Alicia Keys, Audra McDonald, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Meryl Streep, Sting and more. The one-night-only event occured in place of the previously rescheduled We Are One Public gala. Here, watch performance highlights of the starry night; Alladin singing a number from the Public Works' Hercules, Audra McDonald performing "There Will Be A Miracle" from See What I Wanna See, and former Nine co-stars Laura Benanti and Antonio Banderas offering "What I Did for Love" in Spanish from Banderas' production of A Chorus Line.
