A clever group of artists known as Creative Quarantine have joined forces to put the mask in The Phantom of the Opera's "masquerade." Their song "Mask-erade" imagines what Broadway's longest-running musical would sound like if it were written during a global coronavirus pandemic. Need health and safety guidelines set to a soaring score? Of course you do. "It's your right to protect those all around you." Put your mask upon your face, and enjoy the video below!
After announcing his participation in an experimental vaccine trial, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber returned to his piano to play ever-popular "The Music of the Night." The Tony winner has already posted videos of “All I Ask of You” and “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again” from The Phantom of the Opera (and challenging Lin-Manuel Miranda to a play-off). Following news that he is determined to get the long-running musical up and running in the West End after the coronavirus pandemic subsides, Lloyd Webber promised, "Phantom will be back." Josh Groban is releasing a new album called Harmony this coming November. The Tony nominee will take fans on a virtual concert “tour” this fall with three new, intimate concerts filmed in-person and live streamed directly to audiences.
On October 3 at, Groban will perform a concert full of Broadway songs. November 26 will be the date of the Harmony release concert. On December 19, he is set to take on his first holiday concert. Each concert will take place at 4PM ET on its respective date and feature new songs and classic favorites. Tickets to the virtual concerts can be purchased here.
Groban made his Broadway debut in 2017 in Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812, for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Leading Actor in a Musical. In 2018, he hosted the Tony Awards alongside Sara Bareilles.
